A RENDEZVOUS ON THE CLIFF (Short Story)

It was a cold January morning. The weather was foggy, and the leaves - what could be seen of them - were coated in thick layers of dust and despair. The bush was quiet, except for the rhythmic roar of the waves against the rocks, and the gentle movement of human feet on the sands. I could feel the harmattan driving its claws into my flesh as I stood at the edge of the cliff, - a small clearing in the bush - and gazed down at what was the remains of my mistress - Ugomma. For what appeared like ages I stood there, gazing silently at what was left of her, and of what was now left of what we had.
